Orebody Modeling and Reserve Evaluation

As your project moves into the later exploration and prefeasability/feasibility phases, you will require more comprehensive resource estimations. NI 43-101 compliant resource estimations by a Qualified Person are essential for the disclosure of scientific and technical information by publicly traded mining companies. Since 1981, SGS has been supplying complete and trusted orebody modeling and resource estimation services to companies throughout the mineral exploration industry.

We start an orebody-modeling project by critically reviewing existing drill holes, surface and underground sample data, as well as maps and plans with current geological interpretation. Drill hole and/or sample databases are set-up to suit all the quantitative and qualitative information necessary to build a reliable resource model, using advanced geostatistical techniques where necessary. Typically we construct a geological and resource model from various data sources including:

  • Creating, standardizing and validating your database
  • Plotting sections and interactively modeling geological information
  • Performing geostatistical analyses
  • Modeling resource blocks
  • Estimating and classifying your resource

We ensure your entire resource estimation and classification process is done accurately and ethically to NI 43-101 standards. The final product to you is a file with block coordinates and one with block calculated or estimated tonnage and grade values. Resource reports are produced showing variations with cut-off(s) and confidence, as well as sections and bench maps showing block outlines and values.
